My Next Adventure

Only another day and I'll be setting of on my next trip, I've just packed my bags so am about ready. I'll be visiting two new cities for me in Austin & Kansas City, its always good to go somewhere new.
Don't know if I'll be online much, maybe I'll get chance to keep you all informed of whats happening.
I'm actually staying over in Manchester on Sunday night before flying Monday morning to Austin via Chicago. I'll be in Austin 7 nights, reading up about it I reckon it will be lively. I then return to Chicago for 2 nights before moving to KC for another 7 nights.
I don't get back in England while Thursday 8th May.

Although there are a few Cities in North America I'd still like to visit I have been looking elsewhere so maybe I'll do somewhere else later in the year.

I was victim of "Sods Law" this week, an ex work colleague phoned and had a couple of weeks work for me stripping our some machinery. It would have been decent money but as I said "Sods Law" cos the work is for next week when I'm away.

Went out around York with my mate Skid last night, went to a few pubs then on to a Club, it was a good laugh and quite eventfull. We actually got in the Club free of charge just walked straight past the queue & Bouncers, unbelievably they never even questioned us.

Forty Years Ago

It was forty years ago today when one of the most controversial Political Speeches in British History was made.
Of course it was the late Enoch Powells "Rivers of Blood" speech that highlighted the problems of immigration.
Following this speech Powell became a bit of o political outcast, the left wing branded him a racist while the right wing saw him as a traitor. However the people saw him as an hero.
Today Immigration is a major issue in Britain and I'm not anti anybody, its the fact we are a small country, we are full. We have major unrest in Cities our borders are open to the rest of Europe.
Yes we have a multi-cultural society and in there is nothing wrong with that if you benefit from it but we are overcrowded, I m proud of my heritage, I'm against nobody but we haven't room. The last ten years our pathetic government have kept their eyes closed that is why we have unrest in our cities & towns, that is why we are producing home grown terrorists, nobody is happy from all the ethnic groups.
Compare us to the USA we have 1/48th of the land area yet our population is about 1/6, if that is not too full I don't know what is.
Anyway Enoch maybe you were right at least you had the bottle to speak the truth :-

I've been tagged - ty Jenny

Here’s how this one works…

1. The rules are posted at the beginning.

2. Each player answers the questions about themselves.

3. At the end of the post, the player then tags 5 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves a comment, letting them know they’ve been tagged and ask them to read your blog.

Music Monday - Groups with Numbers

Just for a bit of a novelty this week I've decided to post groups with numbers in their name. I don't mean groups whose name includes the number of people in the group (eg. Dave Clark 5, Jackson 5, Three Degrees, Four Tops, etc) but groups with a number for totally different reasons.
Obviously this will give us a very wide range of music for you to pick your favorite from.

1. 10CC "Rubber Bullets" - This 1973 chart topper (their 2nd single) was one of 3 songs that reached No1 for this excellent group. The group featured the renowned song writing duo Godley & Creme. The group went through a number of names before manager Jonathan King gave them the name 10CC, apparently he had a dream that he was standing outside Hammersmith Odeon and the billboard said "10cc the best band in the world".

2. B-52'S "Love Shack" - This 1990 hit was the biggest UK hit for this American New Wave Group when it reached No2 in the charts in 1990. The group is from Athens Georgia (same place as REM). The band's name comes from a particular beehive hairdo resembling the nose cone of the airplane of the same name.

3. UB40 "Red Red Wine" - This made top spot in 1983 for this Birmingham group on of many hits they have had in the UK. They were formed when a group of unemployed musicians got together and their name comes from the number on a unemployment card.

4. Sham 69 "If the Kids are United" - This Punk anthem reached No9 in the charts in 1978 for the group with a big cult following. Apparently the group took its name from som graffiti that singer/songwriter Jimmy Pursey saw on a wall in Hersham, Surrey. Apparently the first 3 letters had washed off due to the weather.

5. Haircut 100 "Love Plus One" - The 1980's was the era of the new romantics and this group formed by lead singer Nick Heyward were one of the groups that came to the for. This song was their biggest hit when it reached No3 in 1982. The group broke up in 1983 when Heyward pursued a solo career. And I haven't a clue where their name comes from so can anyone help here ?

So which do you like ?

Some People irritate me

The other day I was going to the supermarket to pick up some shopping, I parked my car and as I was walking across the car park towards the main entrance a car came racing in and drove straight into the disabled parking space.
As I approached I noticed two lads get out aged about 20 I guess, no one else was in the car. Anyway I was polite and asked the driver if he was disabled (having a disabled mother it irritates me when people abuse designated parking spaces).

The conversation went something like this -
Driver - "What the f**k as it to do with you"
Me - "I'm just pointing out thats a disabled space and somebody may need it, there are plenty of other spaces at the back of the car park"
Driver - "I'll park where I want so f**k off and mind your own buisness" (think he called me a choice name here)
Me (was getting angry) - "I think its everyones buisness"
Passenger (trying to be diplomatic) - "We are not going to be long"
Me - "Makes no difference, them places are there for a reason"
Driver - "What you gonna do about it"
Me - "Leave your car here and you'll find out"
Driver - "You're asking for a punch"
Me (was digging my heels in now & other customers were starting to watch)- "Just try it"
Passenger - "Maybe we should move"
Driver - "I'm not taking any notice of this t**t"
Me - "Well you have a problem then haven't you cos you're breaking the law and I'm not"
Driver - "I'm going to get angry"
Me - "Thought you were already that"
Other Customer - "He's right just move your car"
Driver - "Why should I"
Other Customer - "With all this fuss you'll be on CCTV and probably get clamped"
Passenger - "He could be right"
Driver - "Oh F**k it get back in" turned to me and said "You had better hope you don't run into me again"
Me - "Yes right, think I'll look forward to it"

And off he went, what a plonker.

Well my run of four weight loss weeks as come to an end, I've put on 1.4lb this week going from 207.2lb up to 208.6lb. Yes before you ask I'm a little dissapointed because I didn't expect it, I feel I've done just as well with my exercise, I've eaten no different, I've certainly not had a lapse. I suppose it was gonna happen sooner or later but I'll hope for a good recovery week, actually I'd like to hit 205lb before my vacation.

Thin People :-
1. avoid eating popcorn in the movies because it gets their hands greasy
2. split a large combination pizza with three friends

13. prefer "The Joy of Sex" to "The Joy of Cooking"
14. save leftovers that are too skimpy to use for another meal in orderto make interesting soups
15. throw out stale potato chips
16. will eat only Swiss or Dutch chocolate, which cannot be found exceptin a special store
17. think it's too much trouble to stop at a special store just to buy chocolate
18. don't celebrate with a hot-fudge sundae every time they lose a pound

Never to be forgotten

As a Leeds United supporter I can't let today go by without mentioning two of our own fans Christopher Loftus and Kevin speight. It was eight years ago today 5th April 2000 that these lads went to Instanbul to support our team in a European Semi-Final and never returned to their families.
It was the night before the match when Leeds supporters were attacked by the Scum parading as Galaterassary Fans armed with knives, machetes & Iron Bars. Chris & Kev were attacked while innocently waiting for a taxi in the city centre and both died of multiple stab wounds. Many other fans were injured on that night of shame.

I never knew either lad personally but every Leeds fan will have their families in their thoughts today, hopfully the team playing at Orient will wear black armbands in a mark of respect.

The following YouTube video by a Leeds fan is a tribute to the memory of these two loyal fans please give a couple of minutes of your time these were just lads supporting their team :-

Footballs European authorities should also still hang their heads in shame because despite the deaths they forced Leeds to play the match when clearly everyone just wanted to come home.
I'm not trying to claim Leeds fans are angels we've had our fair share of trouble and been punished for it, to me Clubs from certain countries have been allowed to get away with it in the past thats why it spiraled to murder, UEFA & the Turkish Police should hang their heads in shame.
the Leeds fans that made it to the stadium showed on that night their disgust by turning their backs on proceedings.

RIP - Kevin & Christopher Leeds fans will never forget.

Isn't it quiet (I'd better write something)

Its now over two years since I started blogging and I've been thinking how quiet its getting on blogger. Not saying it is for everyone but in my circle of friends are certainly not blogging as much, some not at all. I don't mean everyone cos some are still regular which I'm pleased about but I must admit I also miss some of my absent friends.
To be honest I'm just as guilty myself as I only post 2/3 times per week, my Monday Music Post & my Wednesday weigh in plus an occasional other.
I'm actually finding I'm doing more on MySpace, I'm building a good group of regular friends over there that I communicate with on a regular basis (plus of course 5 of my blogger friends are also MySpace friends), that doesn't mean I'll be desserting my blogger friends, you don't get rid of me that easy.

So whats happening in my life, not a lot I've actuually got a Cold at the moment and feel pretty crap. I didn't sleep that well last night so feel a bit tired, a lemsip before bed should do the trick tonight.

The TT season is coming to an end and I was pleased to win the local Mens title last weekend, its the 7th time I've won it equalling the all time record (first won back in 1984). Our first team have reached the play offs in the British League and a few of us are off to Slough to watch them in May, should be a fun weekend.
My Pool team are top of our division with about 5 matches to go so hopfully we can keep going and take that title.

Well only just over 2 weeks to my vacation to Austin, Kansas City & Chicago, I'm really looking forward to it.

Another Week another pound

PROFILEPOUNDER.COM

For four weeks running I've managed to lose weight, this week it was 1lb. I've gone from 208.2lb to 207.2lb maybe not massive amounts but I feel slowly is the way to do it. I think the main reason is not what I'm eating (that can improve) but the level of exercise I'm doing at present. Walking good distances most days, playing TT & Golf when I can is paying dividends.

I'd like to lose another 2 or 3 pounds before my vacation which is under 3 weeks away.
